Shure Axient® Digital Wins the Race

For more than 40 years, TSH has been behind the scenes of thousands of New Zealand events and venues, providing audio, lighting, projection, staging, production, and installation services. Based in Taranaki and with a partner company in Auckland, TSH serves businesses and communities locally and nationwide. Neil Penno, TSH co-owner and manager, comments “As a team, we enjoy all things technical, but ultimately, whether it be a small event or an international act, we value the needs and expectations of our customers and endeavour to make every event a success.”

TSH has been using Shure microphones and wireless systems for production and commercial installations since their inception. Daniel Evans, TSH Senior Technician, comments “Shure is reliable, great sounding, and production rider friendly. We receive good product and service support from Shure and NSL locally, which is an important factor in the equipment we purchase.”

When Shure released Axient Digital in 2017, Carl Win, NSL National Pro AV Account Manager, made a trip to Taranaki to demonstrate the new digital wireless solution to TSH. Axient Digital was designed for professional productions that demand flawless execution, unprecedented signal stability and audio clarity, plus flexible hardware options, advanced connectivity, and comprehensive control. Daniel Evans remarked “With ongoing RF congestion we needed a flexible digital solution as an upgrade to our Shure UHF-R® stock. Since seeing the Axient analog system, we had been waiting for that technology to roll out in a more economical solution.”

After Carl’s demonstration, TSH purchased a selection of AD4D dual channel receivers with AD1 bodypack and AD2 handheld transmitter options. Carl Win notes, “I showed them the AD system, and they put in an order on the spot.” Daniel adds “We accommodate large-scale productions at venues such as the Bowl of Brooklands, TSB Stadium, and TSB Showplace. Every event matters to us, and we value each customer’s event regardless of its size. Therefore, it is crucial to have quality gear, like Shure Axient Digital, that we know we can rely on, even in challenging RF applications.”

One of TSH’s most recent events was the Powerworx Opunake Cup Day held at the Pukekura Race course. The event is a premier New Zealand race event featuring an eight-race card, Fashion at the Races and Punters competitions, and live musical entertainment. TSH operates the in-house system at the race course and provided Axient Digital Wireless for this event. Daniel comments “As expected, the Axient Digital system ran seamlessly on the day, as it has for the range of corporate events and functions we’ve used it for since purchase.”
