Big things were promised when Theia (Em-Haley Walker) burst onto the music scene in 2016 with her break-out smash hit ‘Roam’. Walker’s distinctive vocals and exquisite harmonies paired with dreamy, ethereal glitter-pop and sultry R’n’B, made an indelible mark and left audiences around the world wanting more.

‘Roam’ became one of the biggest hits released by a New Zealand artist in 2016 when it soared up the Spotify Global Viral Chart, the US Viral Chart, the Australian Viral Chart, the Malaysian Viral Chart and topped the NZ Viral Chart. It has now clocked more than 9 million plays on Spotify and continues to grow.

‘Roam’ also dominated the airwaves in New Zealand, reaching radio’s coveted ‘Top 5’ in the Airplay Charts and holding #1 spot as the most played Kiwi song for seven consecutive weeks. It also received airplay on a number of radio stations across South East Asia, including Singapore’s biggest Top 40 station 98.7FM and Rock on Radio in Thailand.

The video for ‘Roam’ - made by award-winning director Chris Lane - has had more than 170,000 views on You Tube. It was added to VH1 India, which has an audience reach of 92 million across India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, MTV Asia and Channel [V] Asia, which is available in six million homes across 18 countries.

In June 2017, the Christchurch-born singer made her most significant statement yet - the release of her debut EP, simply titled THEIA. The six-track record captures a young artist at a career-defining moment in time and establishes Theia - who takes her name from the Greek Goddess of light - as a rare talent with a bright future ahead of her.

The six songs that make up the EP, including the epic and heartfelt ‘Champagne Supernova’ and her feel-good ode to youth ‘Treat You’,

stand alone as individual pieces of work - well-crafted with meaningful lyrics and infectious melodic hooks. And yet side-by-side, they come together as a complete body of work showcasing Theia’s knack of seamlessly blending genres and taking the listener on a journey.

The EP debuted at #15 in New Zealand’s Official Top 40, and at #3 in the NZ Album Chart. It also charted in the NZ iTunes Top 10. Internationally, it peaked at #7 in the Malaysian iTunes chart, #3 in the Malaysian pop chart. In Indonesia it peaked at #53 in the iTunes chart and #28 in the pop chart. It also entered the iTunes Top 100 in Japan.

The songs are now firm favourites in Theia’s mesmerising live show, which she has perfected with tours on both sides of the Tasman - opening over summer 2016/17 for Broods on the Electric Coastline tour and in April 2017 supporting Australian electro-act The Kite String Tangle in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. In June 2017 she completed her first-ever headline tour of New Zealand to mark the release of her EP.

Theia played her first-ever US show in May 2017 after being invited to perform a showcase at the prestigious MUSEXPO in Los Angeles. In September 2017, she will play at Music Matters in Singapore, ahead of a run of dates throughout the New Zealand summer.

It paves the way for an exciting journey ahead; one which the talented and enigmatic artist with a passion for music and fashion is embracing with all she’s got.
